Admit

Admit is a one-week rotation engineered to protect evening sign-out times for the general pediatrics teams at Boston Children’s Hospital. The team is comprised of a supervising resident (either junior or senior) and two interns. Admit residents are scheduled from 1pm to 10pm five days a week and are responsible for taking ER and direct admissions during that time to allow safe pass-off of patient care for the other teams.  In addition to protecting care transitions for the primary general pediatrics teams, this well-loved rotation also allows residents increased autonomy, honing of their general pediatrics skills, and the benefit of a lighter clinical workload.  It also gives interns protected time to learn hospital systems and receive dedicated teaching on common general pediatrics topics.
