Admit is a two-week rotation for junior residents engineered to protect evening sign-out times for the general pediatrics teams at Boston Children’s Hospital. Admit residents are scheduled from 4 pm to 9 pm five days a week and are responsible for taking ER and direct admissions during that time to allow safe pass-off of patient care for the other teams. Junior residents work directly with the nighttime admitting attending and pass off care of admitted patients to the primary night team. In addition to protecting care transitions for the primary general pediatrics teams, this well-loved rotation also allows junior residents increased autonomy, honing of their general pediatrics skills, and the benefit of a lighter clinical workload.
